I have a question? Do you know what a resume is? If you don’t know….then a resume, according to the American Standard Dictionary is a brief account of a person’s education, qualifications and previous experience, usually prepared to be given to the human resources personnel or company decision maker usually submitted with a job application during the job/career search process. I wanted to make sure you knew what a resume or cirrculum vitae (CV) was and it’s relevance to your job/career search. You need the resume to give your current and future employers a snapshot of what skills, qualifications and education can be utilized for their business and professional needs. If your resume does not answer those questions for the potential employer, then it’s not doing it job of marketing you very well. If you are struggling or need to make sure your resume is doing its job of marketing you well, then check out the resource to assure this career tool is truly working to benefit your career goals.
In addition to your resume, you will also need cover letter(s) and letters or recommendation. If you don’t know what a cover letter is, then here the merriam-webster’s official definition: a letter sent with, and explaining the contents of, another document or a parcel of goods. In this case, the cover letter is sent with your “resume” to explain important pieces of your resume or job application matching it up with your credentials and interest in the open position.
