Tailor Your Resume to the Job Description
Make sure your resume is tailored to the specific job you’re applying for. Review the job description and identify the key skills, knowledge base, and qualifications that the employer is looking for. Then, highlight your own relevant experience and accomplishments that demonstrate those skills and qualifications distinctively.

Keep it Concise
Employers receive many resumes, so it’s important to keep yours concise and easy to read. Stick to one to two pages if possible and use bullet points to highlight your achievements, accomplishments and responsibilities in for each job. Do you best not to be wordy.

Use Strong Action Verbs
Use strong action verbs to describe your accomplishments and responsibilities in each job. For example, instead of saying “responsible for,” use verbs like “managed,” “led,” or “created.” It shows you are a candidate of action, not just words.

Focus on Your Achievements
Don’t just list your job responsibilities, focus on your achievements and how you made a positive impact in each job. Use numbers and percentages to quantify your accomplishments, such as “increased sales by 20%” or “managed a team of 10 employees.” For example, you can communicate that you implemented a strategy that saved the company X number of dollars over the X timeframe.

Include Relevant Keywords
Many employers use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to screen resumes, so it’s important to include relevant keywords from the job description in your resume. This will help ensure that your resume gets past the ATS and in front of a human reader. It is the main reason you should tailor your resume for each job. The job description factors in heavily on whether your resume gets pass the ATS system, so edit your resume accordingly.

Highlight Relevant Skills to the Job You Are Applying
In addition to your work experience, highlight your skills and qualifications that are relevant to the job. This can include hard skills like proficiency in a particular software or programming language, as well as soft skills like communication and leadership. 3 Ways to Explain Employment Gaps in a Job Interview

Be Honest and Transparent:

It is always best to be truthful and upfront about any gaps in your employment history. Explain the reason for the gap, such as a layoff or downsizing, and emphasize the steps you took to stay active and productive during that time. For example, you could mention that you used the opportunity to update your skills through online courses, attend networking events, or volunteer in a related field to gain new experience. This shows the interviewer that you are proactive and took the time to improve yourself, even during a difficult situation.

Highlight Relevant Skills and Accomplishments:

4 Reasons Not to Lie on Your Resume…Period!

We’ve all been tempted to stretch the truth on our resumes at one point or another. Maybe you exaggerate your responsibilities a bit, or fudge the dates of your last few positions. After all, everyone does it, right? Wrong. Lying on your resume is a huge no-no, and can come back to bite you in more ways than one. Here are four reasons why you should always tell the truth – unless, of course, you’re really good at lying.

1. You Could Get Caught
In today’s digital world, it’s easier than ever for employers to verify the information on your resume. A simple Google search can turn up old news articles, LinkedIn profiles, and social media posts that conflict with the information you’ve provided. And if your lies are uncovered, it will reflect poorly on both you and your ability to perform the duties of the position you’re applying for.

2. It Creates an Inaccurate Picture of Your Skills and Experience
Let’s say you land an interview based on a lie you told on your resume – congrats! Now comes the hard part: actually having to do the job. If you don’t have the skills or experience necessary to perform well in the role, chances are you won’t be employed for long. Inaccurately representing yourself on your resume ultimately creates a false sense of expectations – not just for you, but for your employer as well.

3. It ruins your chance for a positive reference later down the line
Asking your previous employers to act as references is common practice during many job searches. But what happens when they tell potential future employers that you lied on your resume? Have you ever been in a job where you just feel like you’re not being paid enough? Maybe the work isn’t particularly stimulating, or your commute is brutal. But first, let’s define what UNDEREMPLOYED means. Based on the online Merriam Webster Dictionary, underemployed : the condition in which people in a labor force are employed at less than full-time or regular jobs or at jobs inadequate with respect to their training or economic needs.

If you’re like many people, you might be underemployed. That is, you might have a job, but it doesn’t pay very well. In order to make ends meet, you might be working two or three jobs. With an IT certification, you will be able to get a better paying job. And, with a better paying job, you will be able to work fewer hours. As a result, you will have more time to spend with your family and friends. So, if you’re underemployed, get an IT certification today!

It’s time to get creative and start a side hustle, if you’re underemployed. Whether you’re looking to make some extra money or simply want to keep yourself busy, there are plenty of opportunities out there for those who are willing to look for them. From starting a blog to working as a freelance writer or editor, there are numerous ways to make money from home. And with the internet, it’s easier than ever to get started. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to get creative and start your own side hustle.

3. Network with People Online & Offline About Job Opportunities
In fact, nearly one in four workers in the United States are underemployed, according to a recent study. But there’s no need to despair. There are things you can do to improve your situation. One of the best things you can do is network with people about job opportunities, both online and offline. Online networking sites like LinkedIn can help you connect with potential employers and learn about new job openings. You can also attend job fairs and meet with employment counselors to learn more about available positions. So don’t give up. Get out there and start networking today. It could be the key to landing your dream job.

It’s Time to Leave that Job…Now!!

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed out in your job, it might be time to resign. It’s not worth sacrificing your mental health for a paycheck – you can find something else that will make you happier. Plus, giving yourself some time away from work can make you even more appealing to future employers. So if the job is stressing you out, don’t be afraid to walk away. You’ll be glad you did.

If your job is giving you ulcers, it might be time to hand in your two weeks notice. Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Your boss is breathing down your neck, deadlines are looming and you’re pretty sure you’re going to get fired if things don’t shape up soon. But before you start packing up your desk, there are a few things you should consider. First, is this job really worth the stress? If it’s not, then it’s probably time to move on. Second, have you tried talking to your boss about the situation? It’s possible that they’re unaware of how stressed out you are. If you’ve tried everything and you’re still not happy, then quitting might be the best option. But whatever you do, don’t make a rash decision – think carefully about what’s best for you before you hand in your notice.

Working in a toxic work environment can be soul-sucking and energy-draining. If you find yourself in this situation, it’s time to resign, unless of course you enjoy being constantly stressed and on the verge of a breakdown. A toxic work environment can take a toll on your mental and physical health, so it’s important to get out as soon as possible. Here are some signs that it’s time to resign:

– You dread going to work every day
– You’re constantly stressed out
– You’re not getting any joy or satisfaction from your job
– Your health is suffering as a result of the stress

If you can relate to any of these points, then it’s time to start looking for a new job. A toxic work environment is not worth sacrificing your wellbeing for. Leave!

If you find yourself constantly second-guessing your decisions, questioning your worth, and generally feeling like you’re never quite good enough, it might be time to consider finding a new job – or at the very least, a new boss. Because chances are, you’re working for a narcissistic boss.

Narcissistic bosses are characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for constant admiration, and a complete lack of empathy. They’re also incredibly difficult to work for. So if you’re stuck working for someone who ticks all of those boxes, it’s time to start looking for a way out.

That doesn’t mean quitting without notice – although in some cases, that might be the best option. But however you do it, getting away from a narcissistic boss is one of the best things you can do for your career – and your mental health.

If you’re working for a company that’s up to no good, it might be time to hand in your notice. After all, life is too short to spend your days working for a criminal enterprise. Of course, it can be tough to know if your employer is breaking the law. Here are a few things to look out for:

– Are you being asked to do things that make you feel uncomfortable?
– Do you have a sneaking suspicion that something isn’t quite right?
– Are you worried that you could get into trouble if the authorities found out what was going on?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, it’s probably time to start looking for a new job. After all, it’s not worth risking your freedom for a company that doesn’t have your best interests at heart. So, if you think your employer is up to no good, don’t wait around – leave ASAP!

Whether you’re getting stressed out at the thought of going to work, feeling like your work environment is toxic or dealing with illegal activities or dealing with a narcissistic boss…none of those things are worth giving up your sanity. 4 Resume Mistakes You’re Making (And How to Fix Them)

Your resume is one of the most important tools you have when searching for a job. It’s your chance to make a good first impression and sell yourself as the best candidate for the role. However, if your resume is full of mistakes or doesn’t contain the right information, it could cost you the opportunity to even get your foot in the door. Here are some common resume mistakes to avoid:

1. Irrelevant Experience: It’s important to have the right professional experience showcased on your resume. Having the wrong experience will hurt not hep your chances of getting attention from the right employer or right job.

2. Not Structuring Your Resume Properly: Does your resume still have objectives on it? Please review that from your resume…right away. It’s so important to make sure that your resume showcases your actual talent and not just your experience. When I say that, I mean your resume must have a summary of your qualifications it should have a list of your skills, knowledge base and abilities either listed or highlighted at the top of your resume. It should also showcase how you can help the employer. The proper resume structure can sell you to the employer because they can see how you can benefit them.

3. Not Describing Your Experience Thoroughly: Are you leaving out any important details about your skills or experience? Make sure you include all relevant information about yourself so that the employer can get a complete picture of who you are. Also describe how you did the job by showcasing awards, certifications and your overall stellar performance in that position.

4. Do Not Add “Reference Available Upon Request” to your resume: Was your resume written in 1992? Then that’s the only resumes that have that line printed on there. It is so irrelevant to resumes now, due the mere fact that more employers are expecting you to have a list of references ready to represent. The reference list is another “career tool” you as a consummate professional need to have in your arsenal of career tools in your professional life.
