You’re new to the job, and you want to make a good impression. It’s important to make a positive impression in your new position. Here are three (3) actions to take to stand out positively. First, be sure to show up on time and prepared for your shifts. This means having all the necessary equipment and being ready to work when your shift starts. Second, go above and beyond what’s expected of you. This could mean cleaning up around the workplace or offering to help with a project that’s outside of your normal duties. Finally, be friendly and positive with your co-workers and customers. This will help create a pleasant working environment and make you more likely to be remembered in a positive light. By following these simple tips, you can make a great impression and stand out from the rest.
A) Show Initiative
So you’ve landed a new job. Congrats! Now it’s time to show your boss what you’re made of by being the most proactive employee they’ve ever seen. But where to start? Here are a few ideas:
-Offer to help with tasks that are outside of your normal job description. If you see someone struggling with something, ask if you can lend a hand.
-Don’t be afraid to take initiative on projects. If you have an idea for something, speak up! Your boss will be impressed by your creativity and drive.
So go out there and show them what you’re made of! With a little hard work and determination, you’ll be on your way to success in no time.
B) Ask Key Questions
Now it’s time to ask some key questions to get yourself up to speed. What are the company’s core values? What is the dress code? What are the expectations for overtime? Asking these questions now will help you hit the ground running and avoid any unwelcome surprises down the road. And if you’re ever unsure about something, just ask. It’s better to ask and seem like a rookie than to not ask and look like an idiot. So go ahead and ask away – your new colleagues will be happy to help you out.
C) Come in 30 Minutes Early to Increase Your Learning Curve
One of the best pieces of advice for those who are new to the job is to come in early. This not only shows your boss that you’re dedicated, but it also allows you to learn the ropes faster. You can use this time to familiarize yourself with the company’s systems and procedures, and to get to know your co-workers. Additionally, coming in early gives you a chance to get started on your work before the distractions of the day set in. So if you’re looking to make a good impression and hit the ground running, be sure to arrive at your new job a little bit.

Their definition states, overemployed is a community of professionals looking to work two remote jobs, earn extra income, and achieve financial freedom. Be free from office politics and layoffs. Being overemployed can be a good thing. What is overemployment? It simply means working more hours than what is considered full-time for two separate full-time jobs. Usually, this is working more than 40 hours per week. You may be thinking that this doesn’t sound like a good thing, but hear me out. Working more hours can actually help you in several ways.
First, it can help you make more money. This is obvious – the more hours you work, the more money you’ll make. But this can be helpful if you’re trying to save up for something specific, like a down payment on a house or a new car. Every extra hour you work is one step closer to your goal.

It’s been all over the news about the abrupt departure of Gabrielle Union from AGT or also know as America’s Got Talent after serving on the show for only one season. Based on the information being communicated by the press so far, the departure may have been due to alleged mistreatment of her and other employees on the basis of race and gender. From what has been reported so far, there has been no formal charges filed but the network’s reputation of treating people unfairly is not new.
From an #HR standpoint, the network is not using or listening to their human resources department or they would not have been in this position in the first place.
As as business owner/entrepreneur, you want to avoid these type of compliance issues because they can cost your business their amicable reputation. If, as a business owner, you struggle to maintain compliance with these and other employment laws, reach out to me here so we can connect.
There’s so much damage the network could have avoided, had they listened to their HR Department.

This is an important story that MUST be told & seen. The Banker captures the story of two melanated men using the cultural biases and racially discriminatory environment of the 1950s to establish themselves in the banking industry. They used their access to banking to help others obtain home and business loans.
It’s a powerful story of using disadvantages to your advantage, which I find profound. In your career and life, you can learn and take actions to use biases, challenges and disadvantages to change history.
Don’t be fearful of new opportunities that knock you out of your “comfort zone”. In this market climate where technology driven changes ultimately affect almost every industry directly or indirectly, you must step out on faith and BET ON YOURSELF!
Long gone are the days where people remain employed to the same company for 20, 30 or even 40 years….so believing in yourself, knowledge, skills and abilities may end up leading to unexpected opportunities for growth and working independently.
Be bold enough to step out on your own before it becomes a necessity versus a choice. You may end up venturing into entrepreneurship, sales or consulting based on what is going on in your industry.
